ANT Middleton is facing a significant setback this year as SAS Australia will not be returning to screens in 2024.
This news came as a surprise to fans, especially because Channel Seven had previously announced plans to continue the reality series.
The anticipated fifth season was expected to be commissioned this year, but it has yet to be greenlit according to the Daily Mail Australia.
Insiders at Screentime, the production company behind SAS Australia, revealed that early casting discussions had already taken place.
However, negotiations reportedly fell through, with the Mail’s sources citing a breakdown in talks between Channel Seven and Screentime.
It is now too late in the year for the show to make it to screens in 2024 given it has not been filmed, and it has not been announced in Channel Seven upfronts either.

The decision to axe the show is particularly surprising given the strong ratings for the 2023 finale, which pulled in 1.85 million viewers across Australia.
Despite missing out on a year of the reality show, Ant has been positive about the show’s return.
In August he told Yahoo Lifestyle: “Of course we’re coming back, SAS Australia’s gone nowhere. You’ve heard it from the horse’s mouth.
“We just need to make sure we’ve got the right cast, that we’ve got the right location, and with SAS Australia you can’t rush it.
“You can’t just go, ‘Right, we need to do it every year’, because it’s about getting things right, it’s about keeping it authentic and keeping it real and keeping it raw.
“We need the right cast, we need the right location, and we need the right production company on board.”
