Hugh Freeze gives injury updates on Kayin Lee, Brandon Frazier and others after New Mexico win

Hugh Freeze gives injury updates on Kayin Lee, Brandon Frazier and others after New Mexico win

Following Auburn’s 45-19 win over New Mexico Saturday night, head coach Hugh Freeze addressed a few of Auburn’s injuries going into and during the game.

The most notable unexpected absence was starting corner Kayin Lee. Freeze said after the game that Lee’s absence was due to a calf strain.

“He struggled with it all week and we gotta get some of these guys healthy like him and Cam [Coleman] and [Izavion Miller],” Freeze said after the game.

Coleman and Miller missed Saturday’s game due to injuries suffered against Cal. Coleman is dealing with a shoulder sprain and Miller is nursing a strain on his hip flexor, according to Freeze.

With Lee out, Champ Anthony went from his usual nickel spot to outside corner, with Keionte Scott on the other side. Antonio Kite rotated in and played significant snaps at outside corner too.

The most significant injury development during the game came regarding veteran tight end Brandon Frazier. He left the game during the first half, returning to the sidelines in street clothes and with a boot on his right foot.

Freeze said after the game that he thinks Frazier broke his foot. With Frazier out, Rivaldo Fairweather and Luke Deal were still the primary tight ends, but Micah Riley and Rico Walker saw playing time later in the game.
