The Week 3 Huntsville area Football Player of the Week dominated on the field for his team and rolled to a big margin in the fan voting last week.
East Carolina commitment Jordan Miles of Grissom collected 6,641 votes, 44 percent of the 14,959 votes cast, in AL.com’s weekly poll for his efforts in a 30-27 loss to Huntsville.
Miles had 12 tackles – nine solo – with six tackles for a loss, two quarterback pressures and a quarterback hurry for the Tigers in a 30-27 Class 7A, Region 4 loss at Huntsville. The 6-foot-3, 212-pound outside linebacker for Grissom (1-1, 0-1) got 6,641 votes.
Bob Jones quarterback Johnny Jackson finished second in the balloting in a close finish at 3,315 votes – good for 22.16 percent. Jackson, a 5-11, 180-pounder, threw for three touchdowns and ran for another in the Patriots’ 34-31 loss to James Clemens in the Madison Bowl.
Anthony Gideon, a 5-11, 200-pound sophomore Air Force Academy commitment, finished with 117 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns as the Jets beat Bob Jones. One of his TDs was a 37-yard dash and he scored the final touchdown to put James Clemens on top. Gideon finished with 3,301 votes – 22.07 percent.
