SANDUSKY – A Sandusky man is now behind bars after police and prosecutors say he is facing charges in connection with his wife’s death.
Ronald Rogers II, of 46th Street, was arrested earlier this month on charges of assault and involuntary manslaughter. His wife, Jennifer, was found deceased inside their home in June.
“The conditions of the house were terrible,” said Sandusky Police Detective Chris Denny. “We learned that since January to the time of her passing she had not been out of bed. “
Police and prosecutors say the woman had serious medical conditions and her husband failed to care for her.
“The assault is because he recklessly caused serious physical harm to her by lack of care,” said Erie County Prosecutor Kevin Baxter. “He was the caregiver. “
Sandusky Police Chief Jared Oliver said all Rogers had to do was ask for help.
“It was tough to see what she went through,” Oliver said.
Rogers has entered not guilty pleas to both charges. Bond was set at $100,000. He is being held in the Erie County jail and is due back in court soon.
