I tested three exfoliants – budget option is great for extremely sensitive skin

CHEMICAL exfoliants, which slough away dead skin cells without the need for messy scrubs, are a quick fix for dry, dull skin at this time of year.

This week, I test three pre-loaded peel pads.

Budget

No7 Glycolic Exfoliating Pads, £24.95 for 60, boots.com – I often find glycolic irritates my skin as it’s too strong an acid.

But miraculously that wasn’t the case with these pads, thanks to the buffering ingredients of hydrating glycerin alongside soothing panthenol and allantoin.

So much so, I barely noticed an improvement in the texture of my skin.

If you’re extremely sensitive, they’re a good gentle option, but I want something that packs more of a punch.

Murad Retexturising Body Face Pads, £49 for 45, murad.co.uk –  I trust this skincare brand the most.

I have loved every product I’ve tried, so much so that I’m even confident recommending those I’ve not used, so the bar was high for these pads.

I like that they’re big enough for my face and body, as I have a patch of chicken skin on the back of my arm which needs attention.

With azelaic acid and witch hazel, they’re also great for reducing and preventing spots – they’re definitely my favourite of the three.

Luxury

Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel, £93 for 30, spacenk.com – I swore by these when my acne was at its worst a few years ago – the novel two-step peel feels like a professional treatment, and means that the exfoliating acids are neutralised almost immediately to reduce irritation.

There’s so much product on the wipes, you could cut them in half and get two uses out of them (or, like the Murad, use them on your body as well as your face).

Although once opened, the foil wrapper packaging isn’t the best for keeping them fresh, so they won’t last longer than the next day.
