‘I’m pulling my hair and screaming,’ says Strictly choreographer over judges’ negative feedback to the contestants

A STRICTLY Come Dancing choreographer has revealed how she really feels when the judges give their feedback to the contestants.

Maria Tsiatsiana said she sits in the audience for each live show, and can barely watch as she sees the dances she’s choreographed each week brought to life by the celebrities and their pro partners.

And on the occasion negative feedback is given to them from the judges, Maria says she’s “pulling [her] hair and screaming.”

Asked how she deals with negative feedback from the likes of Craig, Motsi, Shirley and Anton, The Argentine tango expert told The Sun: “I’m pulling my hair and screaming in the background.

“I’m like ‘nooo.’ But look, the judges are obviously very qualified and very experienced and they know what they’re talking about.

“I think the feedback they give is essential for the celebrity to know what to work on for the next week.”

Maria continued: “So obviously you know sometimes we don’t like it, especially when it’s my baby, but their incredible knowledge and their credibility and their experience in the show obviously helps the celebs to get better and to know what to work on.

“So maybe I don’t like it but I definitely have to agree with their feedback.”

Maria also discussed ‘fix’ claims on Strictly, and shared her opinions.

Love Island star Tasha Ghouri shot to second on the leaderboard on Saturday night alongside Aljaz Skorjanec after their cha cha to Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter.

However, fans thought it was unfair as Tasha had a history of dance training before the BBC series, and the reality star has had to fend off ‘fix’ claims as a result.

Now, in response to these claims, talented Strictly choreographer Maria said the fix row argument is ‘not valid.’

Maria said: “It’s very important to know that every celebrity brings their own life experience and dance, or no dance, experience. Everyone is learning from scratch and it’s a huge thing to learn.

“You have to learn choreography and dance with a professional dancer – and all our pros are the best in the business – and then you have to dance under so much pressure.”

She added: “So if you took five ballet classes or ten or zero, everyone is at the same playing field on that Saturday night and in the rehearsal studio.

Strictly 2024 Week One Scoreboard

  1. JB and Amy = 31
  2. Tasha and Aljaz = 30
  3. Sarah and Vito = 30
  4. Wynne and Katya = 26
  5. Montell and Johannes = 26
  6. Shayne and Nancy = 23
  7. Jamie and Michelle = 23
  8. Chris and Dianne = 23
  9. Sam and Nikita = 21
  10. Dr Punam and Gorka = 19
  11. Tom and Nadiya = 18
  12. Nick and Luba = 18
  13. Pete and Jowita = 17
  14. Paul and Karen = 17

“So this fix thing is not valid. There’s no fix. Everyone dances all the classic and traditional speciality dances and the ballroom dances. Everyone starts at the same zero playing field. Everyone starts at zero and we go forward.”
