Inge Reyntjens knows her sentence: 24 years in prison for the murder of a sister with a mental disability

26 years in prison. That was actually the jury and the Assize Court considered the appropriate punishment for Inge Reyntjens, who murdered her mentally disabled sister Heidi. But because the reasonable term was exceeded — it took more than five years before it came to a trial — two years were deducted. Reyntjens must therefore serve 24 years in prison and can apply for early release for the first time at the end of 2031. She will then have passed the age of 63.
