An injured hiker was rescued in Ashford on Sunday and taken to the hospital.
Fire crews and medics shortly before 3 p.m. responded to the blue trail in Boston Hollow on the report of an injured hiker, according to the Ashford Volunteer Fire Department.
Fire officials said the victim was a little more than ¼ mile into the woods on a ridge. Mutual aid was requested from the Willington, Willington Hill and UConn fire departments.
Crews used a stokes basket and rope during the rescue. After being brought to the top of the ridge, the victim was secured and lowered down before being extricated from the wooded area, fire officials said.
The victim was then brought in an ambulance to Windham Hospital, according to fire officials.
The rescue took about an hour, fire officials said.
“We would like to thank our mutual aid partners for their help with today’s incident,” Ashford fire officials said in a statement.
