Inside return of TV classic Bergerac as 80s detective drama comes back with iconic Triumph car and filming location

Bergerac fans have no doubt been nervous at how much might change ahead of the 80s show’s revival on UKTV with Damien Molony taking over from John Nettles.

But one character that hasn’t changed at all is the telly detective’s 1949 Triumph Roadster, which has been brought back in all its glory for the revamped series.

The car, which is the same as the one used in the original series – even down to the registration plate – will feature in the upcoming series for U&Drama, which is due to air early next year.

Damien said of getting behind the wheel: “When people talk about Bergerac, two things immediately spring to mind: Jersey, and the car.

“We’ve recently wrapped on filming, and I’ve had the best time stepping into the role of Jim Bergerac – I’ve even had the privilege of getting behind the wheel of the iconic Triumph Roadster.

“We couldn’t have re-imagined this series without paying homage to the original, and the car beautifully bridges the two. I can’t wait to share it with the fans.”

Damien joins the likes of Pippa Haywood, Robert Gilbert, and Sasha Behar in the series.

Award-winning BBC Three series Our War will return for a one-hour special.

Marking ten years since the last documentary, which looked at the Afghanistan war, it will revisit some of the soldiers, to reflect on their lives back then, who they are now, and how the Army has shaped them.

Seann Walsh was left red-faced after his neighbours called to check in – because they were concerned about him barking like his dog.

The comedian had been testing out an anti-barking collar for his cockapoo, Mildred, on himself to make sure it wouldn’t shock her.

He told the Oh My Dog! podcast: “I tested it on myself. I put this thing on and to try to get it to work, it meant that I had to bark, so I was in my kitchen, barking.

“It wouldn’t work . . . so then I was just a 38-year-old man with a collar on, barking.

“Then I got a message in the WhatsApp group from the neighbours asking, ‘Is everything all right?’ and I had to tell them that it was me, and they didn’t respond. They left that one cold.”

Filming for the third series of BBC sitcom Here We Go has started this week. Creator Tom Basden was seen back on set with Jim Howick, Alison Steadman, and Tori Allen-Martin ahead of its return next year.

He said: “I’m thrilled to be reunited with our cast of comedy legends.”
