Helldivers 2 was a massive triumph for Arrowhead Game Studios and Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game developers nailed the multiplayer component and paired it with great gameplay mechanics leading to the player base having a blast in the most literal and figurative sense. Despite the recent controversies, backlash, and valid complaints, the game developers did not falter and succumb to pressure and endured everything to make the game better.
Modern video games have been constantly improving and Arrowhead Game Studios has shown signs of great change since the game was originally released early this year. The game received its fair share of backlash in the past that tainted its reputation; however, the developers did not give up and fans wonder if this could still win Game of the Year.
The Gaming Community Weighs the Chances of Helldivers 2 Winning Game of the Year
The gaming community had a great time during the earlier days of Helldivers 2 before it was plagued with performance issues, nerfs, and the unnecessary mandate of Sony Interactive Entertainment to link their Steam accounts of PC players to an active PlayStation Network account for better online moderation. This drove a wedge between the player base and the game developers and some would argue this is where the Helldivers sequel was at its lowest point.
Arrowhead Game Studios did not give up and wanted to deliver the greatest online multiplayer experience. The gaming community noticed the developers kept their word and showed signs of improvement regardless of size like fixing the unbalanced cape design that drove the player base nuts for the past few months. These improvements are a testament to director Johan Pilestedt’s unwavering dedication to improvement giving the fans new hope.
The developers revealed that changes would be made in the next 60 days and the gaming community was on the edge of their seats to see how Arrowhead Game Studios will bring Helldivers 2 back on top. Players were convinced that the game had a high chance of being nominated for Game of the Year despite being an online multiplayer experience, the game has nailed all the best parts of a modern video game with a few minor hiccups.

Helldivers 2 did extremely well amidst the fierce competition and some fans are confident about the game’s chances of winning at least the Best Multiplayer Game. Other games like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Astro Bot, and Black Myth: Wukong are likely the top contenders for Game of the Year since these titles are all single-player games. The Game Awards is renowned for crowning the biggest and greatest single-player games in the past few years.

Other players believe the game does not need the title of Game of the Year to be great. Helldivers 2 is a great game by itself and it would be a bonus if the game was nominated or even won the award by some miracle. Winning isn’t everything, especially when the game developers establish a healthy relationship and a sturdy foundation with the player base, and they must be doing something right if players continue to support the game.
Every video game deserves a chance regardless of genre or structure. Hopefully, Helldivers 2 will receive the praise and recognition it deserves later this year during The Game Awards.
Helldivers 2 Is a Worthy Inclusion to the Nominees of Game of the Year
Fans loved playing with friends and fighting extraterrestrial forces. Director Johan Pilestedt always envisioned Helldivers 2 to be seen in the same league as other great first-party PlayStation games like God of War, The Last of Us, Uncharted, Spider-Man, Horizon, and all were nominated and winners of Game of the Year. Sony acknowledges the game’s greatness and added it to a banner along with all the greats making it a dream come true for Pilestedt.
Single-player and multiplayer games are all video games at the end of the day. Regardless of structure, they all convey the same satisfying emotion or feeling players receive once they get into it. Hopefully, people will stop separating the two game modes and appreciate them for what they are.
Arrowhead Game Studios struck gold with this franchise and has no plan of stopping soon. Perhaps the game’s chances will increase significantly after a few more performance updates.
