Maridueña was fan-cast as Ace a long time ago, but a recent video by Netflix might have just confirmed it, as this time they have used the protagonist of the series, Iñaki Godoy, to hint at Maridueña’s role in One Piece live-action season 2.
Godoy got a chance to visit the enticing sets of Cobra Kai, as the series celebrates the release of its last season. Here the Luffy actor not only met Maridueña, but he also dropped two major hints about Maridueña joining the cast for the upcoming season.
Iñaki Godoy Visits The Sets of Cobra Kai
Cobra Kai is soon going to release the second part of its final season, and to give it even more hype, they invited Iñaki Godoy to a special tour of the various sets of the highly popular series. Godoy not only got a chance to meet everyone on the set, he also shot a behind-the-scenes video for Netflix, which they shared on their YouTube channel.
The video shows Godoy’s interaction with the cast and his visit to the most memorable places of the set, including the iconic Miyagi-Do Dojo.
Not only that, but Godoy also learned some Karate moves from the stunt coordinators of Cobra Kai. Plus, he also got a custom-made straw hat pirate-themed GI, which was a dream come true moment for him.
In the end, the video showed a short fight scene where Iñaki Godoy teamed up with Maridueña to fight against an enemy and showcase what he learned by being on the sets of Cobra Kai. The two were perfectly synced, and after they defeated the enemy, they moved towards the most important moment of the series, waxing the iconic car.
Netflix Drops Hints At Xolo Maridueña Playing Ace
While the purpose of the behind-the-scenes video by Netflix was to promote the upcoming episodes of the final season of Cobra Kai, including Godoy, and making him team up with Xolo Maridueña might be a subtle hint by the streaming platform about his involvement in the second season of One Piece live-action.
Godoy and Maridueña’s bonding while fighting the enemy and their banter gave major Luffy and Ace vibes. Plus, they even struck the iconic Ace and Luffy pose from the Marineford arc.

All these hints by Netflix and the two actors seemingly confirm that Maridueña might be the creator’s choice for Ace’s role.
However, until there is an official announcement made, nothing can be said for certain. Although the production of the second season has already begun, it all depends on Eiichiro Oda and the showrunners to finally make the revelation about the One Piece characters like Ace, Crocodile, Nico Robin, etc.
