James McAvoy Admits He Has a Kryptonite That Will Make Him an Angry Man Looking for a Fight

James McAvoy has made a huge name for his acting skills across different genres. From a superhero in X-Men: First Class to a complex character in Split, the Scottish actor has brilliantly played various roles.

Besides his acting skills, McAvoy is also known for his calm and humble nature. However, recently the actor revealed that there is something that can snatch away all his calmness- whiskey.

According to James McAvoy, he is very calm and composed until he chugs down more than two whiskies. The Filth actor believes that more than two whiskies change his personality and make him an angry, fighting man from a spiritual soul.

James McAvoy gave a memorable performance as the villainous Kevin Wendell Crumb in M. Night Shyamalan’s Unbreakable trilogy. Among the three films, McAvoy garnered widespread appreciation for Split. His antagonist was labelled ‘The Beast’ in the film. Interestingly, McAvoy revealed that two whiskies can make him a real-life villain.

Recently, when James McAvoy appeared on LADbible TV’s Snack Wars, he was given a choice between many English and Scottish snacks. In the third round, when he had to select between Scotch Single Malt Whiskey and Expresso Martini, he admitted that whiskey could easily make him lose control.

I love whisky, but if I have two of these I will start to get like ‘why you using that lens? Why would you use a 25? You don’t wanna use a 35, you don’t think my face can take it aye? Smart move mate, smart move’ That what will happen if I drink more than two of those, and I know I’m going to take so much heat for that, but (whisky) will make me fight people.

Just like Superman’s relationship with Kryptonite, James McAvoy also tries hard to avoid whiskey. He clarified that despite loving his homeland, he had to choose the Bougie Expresso Martini to maintain his cool image.

James McAvoy delivered one of his darkest roles in 2013’s Filth. The film centred around the story of McAvoy’s corrupt Detective Sergeant Bruce, who is slowly losing his mental sanity while investigating a murder case. The Glasgow-born actor revealed that the role was so dark he had to chug down whiskey to get over it.

We have often heard from actors that some roles are so disturbing they break them from within. As per The Herald, James McAvoy was forced to drink whiskey every night after shooting Filth to get over the character. Besides helping him to cope with Bruce’s character, it also helped in his performance.

I drank a hell of a lot of whisky and that helped me get out of character. But in the morning, I had such a headache that it helped me get into character, so that was good.

The Wanted actor has flaunted his villainous acting skills again in his latest release, Speak No Evil. The film features him as a sinister figure in the guise of a charming husband and father. The Blumhouse film has generated highly positive reviews and almost everyone believes that James McAvoy has given another phenomenal performance as an antagonist after Split.
