GTA 6 might have now become the most anticipated gaming title of all time. It has been more than a decade since a GTA game surfaced in the market. After the huge success of GTA 5, the shout for its sequel was quite evident. But fans never thought they had to shout for so long.
Rockstar Games has confirmed that the game is coming in fall 2025. However, there still isn’t any proper release date revealed by the company yet. It’s been over nine months since we last got any solid and official updates about the game. So is there going to be any delay? Not for now, but who can say, maybe in the future?
Credible Industry Insider Rules Out the Possibility of GTA 6’s Delay, As of Now
It has been seen in some recent leaks and rumors that there are some huge possibilities of a delay in the release of GTA 6. The whole gaming community is buzzing with this news, and speculations are all over. However, popular industry insider and Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier fired all these rumors via a tweet and stated that, as of now, there are no possibilities of any delay.
He stated he has been in talks with six Rockstar employees, and none of them heard about any delay or something. But the thing is that, being such a huge title, a delay in release for GTA 6 can happen anytime in the near future. Still, it’s about 12 months for its release (according to its primary release window), so Schreier himself didn’t know the fate of the game, and it “could very well slip.”
In a follow-up tweet, he then went to clarify his information. He stated that none of those six employees were “informed” about any delay. In the previous tweet, he stated none of them “heard” anything; now it’s informed. So basically there might be a potential delay in the game, but Schreier’s sources don’t know about this yet.
He also stated that the executives in the company could have decided a month ago that there would be a delay without telling the company. But the lack of an internal announcement clearly shows there is no plan for any delay as of now.
What Was the Exact Rumor?
So this rumor was first sparked by GTA community member BilsyLiamGTA, which set social media on fire. This member claimed that GTA 6 has been internally delayed to early to mid-2026 from the initially released window of Q3/Q4 2026. According to him, this information came from multiple developers across two Rockstar Games offices.
In a now-deleted tweet, this is what Liam stated: “EXCLUSIVE: GTA VI has been internally delayed by Rockstar Games, and they’ve already decided on the early to mid-2026 release window.” In that tweet, he also claimed that the PC version of the game will launch 12–18 months after the console launch.
Now why was his tweet erupted so quickly? Actually, Liam boasts previous successful teases and rumors that later went on to become true. For example, he teased that the first trailer of the game was coming in December 2023, long before any mainstream outlets revealed the information.
We have to remember that these are all rumors and speculations, and none of these have been confirmed by Rockstar Games.
