Jenna Ortega Will Always Regret Taking Her Job Seriously That Ended Up Backfiring Badly for No Reason

Jenna Ortega has been in the headlines since rising to prominence with her titular role in the Wednesday series. As the lady is set to return with new stories to unfold, she has been elevating her portfolio with a variety of projects. Given that she always put her best efforts into her work, it has not always worked in her favor, which was something she learned the hard way.

The actress found herself in hot waters following comments regarding her Netflix show’s creative process. Reflecting on the incident, the actress acknowledged that she learned a tough lesson due to that controversy.

Jenna Ortega Got Candid About Wording Her Thoughts Better

Earlier last year, the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice actress acknowledged the working process of portraying the Wednesday role. While it catapulted her to fame, she had a complex feeling for the same, adding that she started finding flaws in her role.

While actors getting critical about their roles is quite common in the industry, Jenna Ortega told in the Armchair podcast that she became quite serious about portraying her character in a specific manner. This led her to share her thoughts on the creative process, which somehow backfired her.

Changing her lines from the script sparked backlash with many arguing that she was belittling the show’s writing staff. That particular comment became a controversy with the actress getting painted in a negative light.

In a recent Vanity Fair interview, Ortega expressed regret on how her words were received in the industry. She shared,

To be fair, I probably could have used my words better in describing all of that. I think, oftentimes, I’m such a rambler. I think it was hard because I felt like had I represented the situation better, it probably would’ve been received better.

Her mere statement from a lengthy interview soon took the Internet to storm, portraying her in a negative light. It was a hard yet significant lesson for the actress who acknowledged that things could have been better had she phrased it properly.

Back in the Armchair podcast, the actress criticized the writing on the Netflix show, admitting that she would sometimes change lines if she didn’t like it. Adding that it was unprofessional on her part, she added that she would sit down with the writers to explain why would she alter any part.

Just after she got criticized for something that was understood otherwise, that situation left with a hard lesson for the actress. In the same VF interview, she addressed the impossibility of pleasing everyone.

You’re never going to please everybody, and as someone who naturally was a people pleaser, that was really hard for me to understand. Some people just may not like you…and that’s entirely fine.

She continued,

I got sick of myself last year. My face was everywhere…so it’s like, fair enough, if I were opening my phone and I saw the same girl with some stupid quote or something, I would be over it too.

Ortega’s situation showcased that the actors often have to walk on eggshells regarding their projects. Despite her earnest dedication to her craft in contributing creatively, her comments were taken out of context, leading her to face the harsh reality in Hollywood.

Wednesday is available to stream on Netflix.
