In 1997, Jennifer Lopez married for the first time. The singer married Ojani Noa, a waiter at the time, in February. However, the marriage was short-lived when the couple filed for divorce only 11 months later. When news of the star’s marriage to Ben Affleck made headlines, in conversation with the Daily Mail, her ex wound up having a few choice words about the whirlwind romance.
I wish her and Ben the best, but I’m not convinced it will last. Jen loves being in love but she’s been engaged six times. Ben is husband number four. I was husband number one and she told me I was the love of her life. When we lay in bed on our wedding night, she said we would be together forever.
Noa continued, “I think she’s someone who will be married seven or eight times. I can’t see her ever settling down with one person. She pushes herself to constantly go forward in her professional life, which is why she’s had a three-decade career, but she also moves on in her private life.” While he might be on to something with Lopez closing out her fourth marriage, there is no saying what the future could hold for the singer. After all, there have already been rumors that she had found a new beau.
Although Noa seemed to blame Lopez’s career goals for their split, the 55-year-old had her own reasoning behind why her first marriage ended up failing.

When Jennifer Lopez married Ojani Noa, she was still in the early stages of her career. With the star having just shot to fame for her role in Selena, the dynamic began to slowly shift. However, that did not seem to sit well with the former waiter. In an interview with Movieline, the actress gave fans some insight into the problems she faced with the relationship.
If you asked him right now, he’d rather have me home washing dishes, with us living in a small apartment, with him making the money rather than me making millions of dollars a year, living in a house that I mostly pay for.
Lopez stated that she felt as though Noa would have preferred being the primary breadwinner of the house. However, that was not the case. The actress also added, “It’s tough for me to try and show him that even though I make a lot of money, I feel I still need him.”
With such a strain on the relationship, there is no wonder that the marriage ended up failing. After their split, their relationship became worse. Noa went on to try and publish a tell-all book, but Lopez buried him in lawsuits to ensure that their private life would stay private. Luckily, she succeeded, and their story stayed under wraps, but that has not stopped her first husband from sharing his thoughts about her life with the public.
