Just a waiter back then, Noa, in an interview, revealed how he fell in love with the actress and made some remarks about her relationship with Ben Affleck.

If Ojani Noa and Jennifer Lopez‘s marriage hadn’t ended after just eleven months, it would have turned out to be a perfect swoon-worthy fairytale. Noa, back then was 22, had just arrived months ago from Cuba in a raft, and was waiting tables at Gloria Estefan’s Cuban restaurant in Miami when he met the actress for the first time.
Filming Blood and Wine alongside Jack Nicholson and Michael Caine, the 28-year-old actress ran into him in the restaurant and was immediately smitten. In an interview with Daily Mail back in 2022, Noa revealed,
I had no idea who she was. Our eyes glanced at each other and I thought she was the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen… They came back the next night and Jen was at the bar. I was bringing French fries over for another customer and she said, ‘Oh my god, those look yummy.’ I handed them to her without saying a word… I was smitten.
One thing led to another and soon after a few days the duo found each other dancing along on the dance floor. Noa then remarked,
We could both feel the romantic energy. It was instant and intense. Like it was surging through our bodies.
Despite the instant connection and attraction, Lopez’s immense fame got in the way, for at that time the actress had just started on the journey to fame that only went one way. While Noa wanted to lay low, Lopez only wanted to get bigger and bigger, leading to their divorce in 1998.

Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck on the second anniversary of their marriage. A shocking event, the duo’s marriage was the talk of the town and often attracted excessive media attention (via Page Six). While the news might have been shocking to fans, Lopez’s first husband, Ojani Noa predicted the split years ago.
Back in 2022, also the year when Lopez and the former DC star got married, Noa in his interview with the Daily Mail remarked,
I wish her and Ben the best, but I’m not convinced it will last. Jen loves being in love but she’s been engaged six times. Ben is husband number four. I was husband number one and she told me I was the love of her life. When we lay in bed on our wedding night, she said we would be together for ever.
Calling Ben Affleck a good guy, Noa added- I’m happy she has gone back to Ben but I have a feeling this won’t last. While Noa has since moved on, he was ultimately right to claim that Bennifer wasn’t made for forever. However, there might be hope that they would remain friends for the duo was recently seen having brunch together with their kids (via Page Six).
