Jon Bon Jovi talks woman off ledge of Nashville bridge

Jon Bon Jovi talks woman off ledge of Nashville bridge

Jon Bon Jovi is being praised for talking a woman off the ledge of the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge on Tuesday in Nashville.

Bon Jovi and others talked to the woman and helped her come back onto the bridge, police said.

“It takes all of us to help keep each other safe,” Metropolitan Nashville Police Chief John Drake said in a brief statement on X.

Police released security video of the interaction, which has since been deleted, in which a woman holds on to the railing. Bon Jovi’s team was setting up for a production shoot.

It appears the singer walks over to the woman, then leans on the railing near her. The person with Bon Jovi gets closer and holds on to the woman’s forearm. Bon Jovi walks to the woman’s other side, and the pair help her back onto the pedestrian walkway.

Other people walk over after the woman is safe, and Bon Jovi embraces her in a hug. A few minutes later, he leaves the bridge with her.

PEOPLE confirmed that Bon Jovi’s foundation, the JBJ Soul Foundation, deals with people in crisis.

The JBJ Soul Foundation’s goal is “to recognize and maximize the human potential in those affected by hunger, poverty and homelessness by offering assistance in establishing programs that provide food and affordable housing while supporting social services and job training programs,” according to its website.
