Kathryn Hahn Will Jump to the Sequel of a ‘Zero Plot’ Movie That Sounds Much Better Than ‘Agatha All Along’ Already

Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha All Along has just dropped its first two episodes on Disney+. Hahn returns to her role as Agatha Harkness, the villain that she played to perfection in Elizabeth Olsen’s WandaVision. While fans were initially excited to see her back, the further updates about the series and Marvel’s fall from grace in the intervening years have been bad news for Agatha.

However, fans who want more of Hahn’s performance can root for another sequel starring the actress. Hahn played the s*x-crazed wife in the 2008 comedy flick, Step Brothers. While a sequel for the film has been in the air since its release, fans never got one. But it might not be too late for an entertaining sequel from that IP.

Kathryn Hahn played Alice Huff in Adam McKay’s comedy film, Step Brothers. The film starred Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly in the main roles and explored their weird living situation when their single parents married. Hahn’s character is the wife of Derek, who is the brother of the main character Dale, played by Reilly.

Alice falls for Dale in the film and they begin having an affair. Alice’s erotic fantasies become too much for Dale who eventually breaks off the affair. As Hahn explained in a 2018 interview, the film has absolutely zero plot but managed to make the audience laugh at its silly situational jokes.

Hahn further hinted at a sequel to the film, sharing that the filmmakers could just do anything with the characters and call it a sequel. The Mrs. Fletcher actress shared that she loved working with that particular group of people and would jump at the chance if she were offered a role. Kathryn Hahn shared with Entertainment Tonight:

There’s zero plot really in that movie anyway, you could do anything and call it a sequel. Anything [at all] and just have that group of people… [and] I would do it in a heartbeat.

Some fans might agree with Hahn especially since they trust in the comedic abilities of the talent involved. McKay could just put Ferrell, Reilly, Adam Scott, and the rest of the cast in a movie and they could build the film solely on improv. Hahn called the movie a “turning point” for her career. She shared that she didn’t know that she could “improvise like that” in a film.

Hahn also pitched a possible sequel idea, sharing that it would be set in the iconic Catalina Wine Mixer from the film. She also shared that her character Alice would probably be in jail somewhere.

Fans Have Concerns Regarding Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha All Along

Agatha All Along creator Jac Schaeffer has shared that the show will represent two sides of history. She shared with Zavvi that the show will touch upon two persecuted groups in history in one story, the witches and the queer community. Schaeffer added that the writing team of the series was “unapologetic about making these characters openly queer.”

While the LGBTQ+ representation may not be a bad thing, fans expressed concerns regarding the series ending up like The Acolyte. Fans have grown to dislike the fact that such representation turns out to be the only positive driving force for some projects. In a vision for representation, filmmakers often neglect crucial things like writing and character development.

Fans hope Agatha All Along doesn’t fall into this category after the team’s marketing efforts were more centered around the LGBTQ+ aspect.

The first two episodes of the series are now available on Disney+. Step Brothers is now available for streaming on Hulu.
