L.L. Bean opens Southington location

L.L. Bean opens Southington location

Popular Maine-based outdoor apparel store L.L. Bean is planning to open its fourth Connecticut location in October.

The newest L.L. Bean is moving into 835 Queen St. in Southington and is expected to open its doors next month.

“A 20,000 square-foot, pop-up location is coming to Southington at the former Bob’s Stores location. It’s an extension of our outlet concept, but with even deeper discounts on apparel, outerwear, and footwear,” said L.L. Bean spokesman Jason Sulham. “We expect to employ a team of 20 and will be opening mid-to-late October.”

L.L. Bean will be moving into the Queen Bee Plaza on Oct. 1 as Bob’s Stores will officially close after nearly a year at the location. Prior to Bob’s, the building was a Bed Bath & Beyond location.

There are also L.L. Bean locations at The Shops at Evergreen Walk in South Windsor and the Danbury Fair Mall. A 25,000-square-foot store in Enfield will open this fall.

The Enfield location, at 20 Brookside Plaza, will be the largest location in the state. Like Southington, it is moving into a former Bed Bath & Beyond.

Currently, L.L. Bean has 58 stores in the U.S. across 19 states, according to the company.

L.L.Bean, a privately held, family-owned company, was founded in 1912 and is headquartered in Freeport, Maine. The Freeport location is over 200,000 square feet and is the flagship store. It attracts over 3 million visitors each year.
