CORTLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – Stephen Procopio begins his first season as the head coach of Lakeview’s boys’ basketball program after serving the past eight years in North Jackson at Jackson-Milton.
“With three returning letterman – Carter Doran (10.4 ppg, 9.7 rpg), Hayden Newton (8.1 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.2 apg), Isaiah Lantz (7.0 ppg, 4.2 apg) – who were major contributors and a handful of talented newcomers to this roster, we expect to compete for a league championship and a district title,” says Procopio.
To go along with its three letter winners, the Bulldogs welcome back a strong group of newcomers that include Leo Parise, Jaden Warner, Preston Littleton, Matthew Leonard, Trace Goyzueta and Luke Demsey.
Procopio points to the strength of his team, “We have nine players who can contribute at the varsity level; their unselfishness as a group focuses in on team accomplishments compared to individual. We have a group that just wants to win and accomplish the goals we have set for them. It’s not fun to dive on the floor and do the dirty work, but from top to bottom on our roster, each player is willing to whatever is necessary to win basketball games.”
Lakeview opens the new campaign at home versus Howland on November 27.
