PITTSBURGH (WKBN) — The Allegheny County Police Department announced that charges were filed against a West Virginia man after he brought a live flash-bang grenade into the airport.
Just after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, police reported that Zachary Velling, 25, of Morgantown, West Virginia, was discovered with a live flash-bang grenade at the main security checkpoint at the Pittsburgh International Airport. Officers observed the flash bang within Velling’s bag during the checkpoint.
A bomb-squad technician was called to the airport and confirmed the grenade was live, authorities say. It was removed from the airport safely and the FBI was notified of the incident.
