BAZETTA, Ohio (WKBN) — The Bazetta Fire Department is now able to utilize its new access road.
Firefighters drove on the access road for the first time Wednesday. Work to install pavement around the old railroad tracks was finished earlier this week.
The road is for emergency vehicles only and will just be used to exit the station onto Elm Road. Firefighters say now that the road is useable, it will reduce response times anywhere from two to three minutes.
“As we know in the medical field, time is brain, time is muscle for those specific medical emergencies. That’s why it’s so important to have this access road because it cuts down on that time that we have to respond,” said Bazetta firefighter Rob Wasser.
The access road project was made possible thanks to a partnership between ODOT, the Trumbull County Engineer’s Office, Norfolk Southern, township trustees, and the fire department.
