YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A little bit of Vegas was brought to the Valley on Saturday night.
It was the HELMS Foundation’s sixth annual Vegas in the Valley Gala at Penguin City Brewing Co. in Youngstown. The event was set up like a typical Vegas casino with roulette, blackjack and more.
The local nonprofit helps with mental health, development and physical disabilities through art therapy. Its goal is to expand art therapy services throughout the area.
“People realize how powerful art is, and a lot of individuals do it professionally, or they do it just on their own as a form of relaxation, emotional expression, coping — so many different reasons,” said Terri Digennaro with the foundation.
The group is also planning to move services to Easterseals of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.
