Look at how Madison County's new EMA Center will benefit the community

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — In June the Madison County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) moved into its new center housed in the new City Hall located in Downtown Huntsville.

Jeff Birdwell, Director of the Madison County EMA, said the center will allow the EMA to better serve the residents of the county and provide them with the most up-to-date information.

“The biggest advantage here from where we were at is the amount of information we can monitor at once,” said Birdwell.

Multiple monitors in the Emergency Operation Center (EOC), allow the staff to monitor local TV stations, the National Weather Service, radar, emergency services, and other essential information to keep the community safe.

Birdwell added, “The more information we can get in the more information we can get out but not only that, but hopefully the better decision you can make during an event.”
