LSU star Harold Perkins injured during victory over UCLA

LSU star linebacker Harold Perkins suffered a right knee injury in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s 34-17 victory over UCLA in Baton Rouge.

Perkins, a preseason All-America selection, was injured making a tackle and had to be helped off the field. He later walked to the locker room while being accompanied by trainers.

Tigers coach Brian Kelly said following the game he didn’t yet know the extent of Perkins’ injury, and likely wouldn’t have an update before Monday.

“He’s injured,” Kelly said. “We don’t know. I mean, we’ll do all the diagnostic testing tonight and tomorrow and we’ll have a better answer.”

The 6-foot-1, 225-pound Perkins was a freshman All-American in 2022 and has 13 career sacks and seven forced fumbles. He has 15 tackles and a fumble recovery this season, but has not yet recorded a sack.

LSU (3-1) hosts South Alabama (2-2) at Tiger Stadium next Saturday. That game kicks off at 6:45 p.m. on the SEC Network.
