THOUSANDS of motorists will have to rethink their journey next week following major road closures.
The huge scheme to improve the motorway will see workers carry out routine maintenance, improve sign visibility and install technology upgrades.
Junction 4 eastbound to junction 9 on the M27 will close on November 4 from 9pm until 6am the following day.
This is the next phase of work to be done to improve the M27, according to National Highways.
The road needs to be closed so workers are safe and able to operate with as little disruption to drivers as possible.
The repairs come after “good progress” was made laying low-noise surface between junctions 5 and 7.
The following week will see junction 8 westbound to junction 4 closed from 9pm to 6am each night starting on November 12 and ending on November 14.

It comes after a major road in Cambridgeshire closed for four weeks after scheduled repairs were moved forward.
Works began on Monday to fix damage caused by a roadside bank collapsing, with a full closure and a diversion route put in place.
A lane on the B1040 at East Delph, near Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire, will be closed to traffic from October 28 through to November 22.
A Cambridgeshire County Council spokesperson said: “We’re pleased to confirm we have been able to bring forward the work to repair the B1040 at East Delph where a lane is closed after erosion had caused the bank to collapse.
“Work on the structural repairs will start on Monday 28 October and is expected to finish on 22 November.
“The road will be fully closed during the works and a diversion route will be signposted.”
Flooding has caused issues for many routes in the area in recent weeks, with the council forced to close Ralph Butcher Causeway and Benwick Road.
At the time, a release said that the closures were “in response to flooding events, and due to subsidence and surface issues which we are working to fully resolve”.
