A New Hampshire man was charged with reckless driving after troopers allege that he was driving over 110 mph on Interstate 91 in Rocky Hill on Tuesday morning.
A trooper assigned to Troop H in Hartford was conducting speed enforcement on I-91 North just before Exit 23 in Rocky Hill around 10:20 a.m. Tuesday when they allegedly observed a black Subaru sedan traveling at an extremely high rate of speed, according to the Connecticut State Police.
Using a laser unit, the trooper allegedly clocked the vehicle’s speed at 114 mph in a 65 mph zone and pursued the vehicle to conduct a traffic stop, state police said.
According to state police, the driver complied and pulled into the right shoulder just before Exit 23. Once stopped, the trooper made contact with the driver who was identified as 22-year-old Hugo Alvarez of New Hampshire.
State police said the trooper discovered that Alvarez did not have a valid driver’s license. He was arrested and transported to Troop H where he was charged with reckless driving and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
Alvarez was later released from custody on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear at New Britain Superior Court on Dec. 2, according to state police.
