BROOK PARK, Ohio – A Parma man, 35, was arrested at about 11:30 a.m. May 7 after he threatened to physically harm a worker at Travelodge by Wyndham, 14043 Brookpark Road.
The man told police he was angry because Travelodge workers refused to refund his deposit, due to his smoking inside a nonsmoking hotel room. He admitted calling one worker names but denied threatening anyone.
Police noticed that the man was wearing an ankle monitor. He said he was on probation through Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.
A Travelodge worker told police the man, using profanities, had threatened to slap her and summon someone to the hotel to harm her. The man tried to rush toward her through a backdoor to the front desk.
A coworker corroborated the worker’s story. The coworker added that the man flashed a bag of marijuana and a large amount of cash at them.
Police searched the man and found a small bag of marijuana and $5,300 in cash in his pants pockets. Inside the man’s Kia Optima, parked outside the hotel, police found 100 sandwich bags, four 9 mm bullets, $225 in cash, a small scale and a bag of marijuana.
