DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — A man was arrested for sexual abuse of a child following an investigation that lasted over a year.
On May 11, 2023, a detective with the Decatur Police Department’s Family Services Unit was assigned a case regarding the sexual abuse of a child.
As a result of the investigation, the detective identified Alvaro Garcia Diaz as the suspect.
The Decatur Police Department said the case was then transferred to the Morgan County Grand Jury.
On October 9, 2024, an arrest warrant was issued for Garcia Diaz for sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old.
On November 11, officers with DPD stopped a vehicle near 11th Street SE and Somerville Road SE. The department said Garcia Diaz was identified as the driver and was arrested.
He was booked into the Morgan County jail on a bond of $100,000.
