A MAN is due in court today after a 21-year-old woman was found dead in a Lanarkshire flat.
Phoenix Spencer-Horn, 21, was found dead with ‘horror injuries‘ in the East Kilbride property on Monday afternoon.
A 26-year-old male has been arrested and charged in connection with the death.
He is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court today.
A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
We told how Pheonix’s family was left “stunned and completely devastated” by her death.
Emergency services raced to the scene where they discovered her body at a flat in Glen Lee.
It is understood she suffered severe wounds to her neck and head.
Popular Phoenix had been employed in numerous restaurants in Lanarkshire including in Strathaven and Hamilton.
It is believed she had been working on Friday but a source said she had failed to turn up for a shift on Monday.
One local told of their shock as police descended on Glen Lee in the St Leonard’s area of the town at around 12pm on Monday.
The sound of sirens filled the streets as emergency vehicles tore onto the residential estate.
They said: “It was like something out of a movie, the blue lights were everywhere and it was obvious something very serious was going on.
“This is normally a very quiet area so nobody can quite believe what has happened.”
Detectives continued to probe the block of flats Phoenix was found throughout Tuesday.
CID and forensics were spotted yesterday on the second floor as police vehicles maintained their presence on the quiet residential street.
Police cordoned off a wide area around the block as a red car was removed by specialist forensic teams.
But Police Scotland has said they are still probing the death but reassured locals there was no risk to the public.
A dog walker told of shock on hearing the news of the woman’s body being discovered in a property yards from her own.
She said: “It’s just shocking to hear what happened.
“We don’t have things happen like that on our door, the community is trying to process it all.”
Another neighbour added: “it’s a shock for the area. You just wouldn’t expect this to happen here, it is usually very quiet.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged following the death of a woman in Glen Lee, East Kilbride.
