Man pleads guilty to string of Boardman thefts

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) — A man will serve time behind bars after pleading guilty to a string of thefts in Boardman this fall.

Lewis Brown, 35, pleaded guilty in court to eight separate theft cases in Boardman that took place from September through October of this year. Each charge was a misdemeanor for theft of less than $1,000.

In numerous instances, those at the stores where items were stolen told police they recognized Brown from prior incidents, reports state.

Brown was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 70 days suspended and credit for 20 days already served. He also was ordered to serve an additional 60 days for probation violation.

He was ordered to pay restitution to the stores he pleaded guilty to stealing from, including Dollar General, Giant Eagle and Burlington Coat Factory, according to court records. Combined, he owes thousands of dollars in restitution.

He will serve two years of probation and must stay off store premises.
