BUTLER CO., Pa. (WKBN) — The man who investigators say stole a car from an airport and caused a crash during a chase through Ohio and Pennsylvania was sentenced Thursday.
Makele Scruggs, 23, was sentenced in Butler County Common Pleas Court to 6 to 12 months in jail. He will also have to serve 36 months probation when he gets out, according to court records.
Scruggs pleaded guilty to felony charges of criminal mischief, including damaging property, and fleeing or attempting to elude officers. Various other charges were dismissed, according to court records.
Scruggs still faces additional charges of failure to comply, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and felonious assault for the Ohio portion of the chase, and that case remains pending.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol named Scruggs as the man who stole a car from the Cleveland Hopkins Airport and led police on a chase that spanned two states and caused a cruiser-involved crash in Boardman about three months ago.
