Mark Cuban Left Shark Tank Because He’s Losing Something More Valuable Than Money

Mark Cuban is a man of many riches, but it’s his family that truly fills his heart. Married to Tiffany Stewart since 2002, they’ve built a beautiful life together, raising two incredible daughters and a son. While he’s conquered the business world, he knows that the real treasure lies in those moments spent with his loved ones.

And before his kids start to carve their own paths, Cuban thus made the decision to step back from Shark Tank. He wants to soak up every bit of family time he can before they’re all off on their own adventures.

Mark Cuban Is Leaving Shark Tank for Something More Valuable, Time with His Family!

Mark Cuban has been a fierce “shark” on ABC’s Shark Tank since season two in 2011, making waves. It is reported that by May 2015, he had poured a jaw-dropping $19.9 million into 85 deals across 111 episodes as per Business Insider. While he certainly knows the score when it comes to cash, he’s realized that time with his family is the real jackpot. So, in a bold move, he decided to finally swim away from Shark Tank in 2025 after an impressive run.

As a busy entrepreneur and investor, he’s eager to spend quality time with his children, Alexis, Alysson, and Jake Cuban. The family was recently seen together at the playoff game between the Dallas Mavericks and the L.A. Clippers, having a fun time. Thus in a brief chat with Inc.com, he revealed,

It’s time, [Shark Tank] shoots in the summer and I want to spend that time with family before my kids are off on their own. My whole thing, always, my entire life has been time, Money obviously is important, and money can buy you time. But the asset I’ve valued the highest is time.

While fans understand Mark Cuban’s decision, they’re also curious to find out about who the next shark will be. And according to recent reports by The New York Times, it looks like a “kind” shark is ready to make a splash in the next season! Daniel Lubetzky, the founder of KIND Snacks, has been making guest appearances on Shark Tank for the past five years, and now he’s set to take a permanent seat at the table.

Mark Cuban Wants His Kids to Know the Real Value of Money

When it comes to raising his kids, Mark Cuban has a refreshingly unconventional approach. He recognizes that being the child of wealthy parents can sometimes mean never having to lift a finger, but Cuban believes in tough love to combat that.

Having built his fortune through hard work and overcoming setbacks in his 20s, he understands the real value of money and wants his children to earn their keep. With a net worth of $5.7 billion, as reported by Forbes, he’s determined to ensure his kids don’t turn into entitled brats. In a conversation with STEVE on Watch in 2020, he revealed,

I’m not going to write you checks. You don’t just get a credit card. You can’t just buy whatever you want. My 16-year-old had an internship this summer. She worked and did a good job and made her own money — and when she makes it, she can spend it on whatever she wants. She still saves it for the most part, so I give her credit.

Cuban grew up in a working-class family in Pittsburgh, where his dad installed car upholstery and his mom juggled various jobs to make ends meet. Although they weren’t poor, they were solidly middle class. In his early 20s, things got a bit tough, he didn’t even have a bank account and shared a $600-a-month apartment with five roommates, often sleeping on the floor or couch.

Having hustled his way to success, Cuban is determined for his kids to understand how the real world works, and the value of hard work and resilience.
