Marvel Fans Hoping Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda and Robert Downey Jr.’s Doom Become a Couple in Secret Wars are Sick in the Head

When it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the inclusion of Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom has added an element that has left many fans wondering about what the future holds. After all, while it is one of the most high profile additions to the franchise, no one can anticipate how a villain who is not given enough time on the screen will work out with the franchise.

But then again, it’s RDJ we’re talking about. And his inclusion is something many fans are already excited about. But that isn’t the only thing some of them are looking forward to.

Robert Downey Jr.’s inclusion in the MCU has thrown the door wide upon

With the Marvel Cinematic Universe heading down a perilous road after parting ways with Jonathan Majors, there was an air of uncertainty around how things would pan out. While some were hoping that Kang would be recast, Kevin Feige & Co. had other plans.

In a move which surprised the entire MCU fanbase, Avengers: Kang Dynasty was rechristened as Avengers: Doomsday and Robert Downey Jr. was cast in the role of the monarch of Latveria.

While everyone was left wondering how Marvel Studios would bridge the gap between making one of its most prolific protagonists into a villain who will act as the anchor for the upcoming phase of the MCU. Their tryst with the multiverse has opened up many possibilities to make that happen. But it can also breed confusion if not handled properly.

With no hint about his origin being teased by the MCU yet. (or has it) fans decided to step in themselves, making all sorts of theories to link how the stars will align in the upcoming Avengers. And one theory has the fans worried. Nay. Disgusted.

Fans are not ready to process the Doctor Doom x Scarlet Witch ship

While Robert Downey Jr.’s inclusion prompted many questions, there aren’t many answers out there. And while these questions remain unanswered, one question about Doctor Doom’s potential love life in Doomsday and Secret Wars has driven many fans to the edge.

The ship is not without any precedents though. In the comics, the two have dated each other (even if it were for strategic purposes at times) in different eras. While Elizabeth Olsen‘s Scarlet Witch is MIA in the MCU, word has it that she will have an important role to play going forward (as a character with her powers should).

With Wiccan also joining the MCU, it looks more than certain that Wanda Maximoff’s return is just around the corner. And Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars seem like the perfect time for her to return to the screen.

Her return seems like a no-brainer to many. But her return as a love interest is something which fans haven’t been able to wrap their head around? That part has triggered many viewers.

The idea was repulsive for many fans. After all, seeing RDJ date any character other than Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pepper Potts is a sight that MCU fans would hate to imagine.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released in 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars coming out the following year.
