Masashi Kishimoto’s Worst Naruto Blunder Has Made Multiple Boruto Characters Obsolete

Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto has been a fan favorite series that fans have held close to their hearts. After all, the series featured a gripping plotline and a wide array of characters that the viewers could relate to. Hence, the series gained a massive fan following that transcended Japan and received a global fanbase, becoming the face of the anime industry.

Though the series has been infectiously popular, Kishimoto-Sensei’s wrong decision to add the Otsutski clan in its sequel spin-off series, Boruto, massively affected its fan appeal. The follow-up series has been a point of criticism from the fans of the original series.

The idea of shaking up things and adding a race of aliens turned out to be a bad one. This is especially true because most of the characters are forced to be mere spectators in the sequel series. While Kaguya Otsutski was a balanced villain, most of them were strong and faced no difficulty in taking down the Shinobis facing them in a group.

Masashi Kishimoto’s Creative Decision Made Most Boruto Characters Obsolete

Originally, Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto was a series that delved into the tale of Uzumaki Naruto, who dreamt of becoming the strongest ninja in his village, Konohagakure. The series was a buffet of emotions that made the audience smile, cry, and introspect, and even inspired them to never go back on their words.

The ninja formula was shaken drastically when the manga artist decided to add a set of characters that divided the fandom. During the Fourth Great Ninja War, everyone believed Madara Uchiha was the main antagonist of the Shonen series.

In a surprising turn of events, Black Zetsu betrayed him and used the Uchiha to resurrect Kaguya Otsutsuki, an extraterrestrial lifeform that most of the characters in the Shippuden series could not take on in a battle.

However, the idea transcended into something worse because in the sequel, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, except for a few characters from the OG series such as Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Kakashi Hatake, Jiraiya.

As a result, the idea has resulted in a mixed bag of emotions from the fans, where the sequel show featured lovable characters, but when it comes to combat against the Otstutsukis, they can’t do anything.

Naruto Fans Hate the Idea of Adding Aliens in the Series

There’s no denying that Kaguya Otstutsuki’s presence in the Shippuden series made her one of the best antagonists in the show, primarily because the unforeseen plot twist got the fans on the edge of their seats.

However, aliens being the cause of everything in Boruto was a plot idea that fans could not agree on unifiedly. This was evident when a Reddit user asked the community if adding “space aliens” to the series was a good idea. The fandom was not delighted with the mangaka’s idea, as the Otstutsuki clan responded with immense criticism on the post. They commented,

While the series had been criticized heavily for featuring aliens in the series, the next arc, that is, Two Blue Vortex, has got the fans to praise the series. The arc features some out-of-the-box ideas that made the fans forget about the mistake that Masashi Kishimoto made in the past.

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
