Mets place Tylor Megill on injured list with shoulder strain – Hartford Courant

The Mets’ banged-up rotation took another hit Monday, with Tylor Megill placed on the 15-day injured list for a right shoulder strain.

Megill left Sunday’s start against the Milwaukee Brewers after the fourth inning and underwent an MRI.

The right-hander’s shoulder felt “a little bit tender,” bench coach John Gibbons said Sunday while filling in as Mets manager for the suspended Carlos Mendoza. Gibbons described the MRI as “precautionary.”

Megill threw only 44 of his 78 pitches for strikes, issuing three walks, three hits and two runs (one earned). He took the loss in the Mets’ 4-1 defeat, which completed a season-opening three-game sweep at Citi Field at the hands of the Brewers.

The 28-year-old Megill made the Mets rotation out of spring training, filling a spot vacated by ace Kodai Senga, who is working his way back from a shoulder strain.
