A NAVY aircraft has landed in the waters of Kaneohe Bay after overshooting the runway.
The accident happened on Monday at 2pm at the Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
The plane was a Boeing P8 Poseidon, which was a military surveillance and patrol aircraft, U.S. Marine Corps spokesperson Gunnery Sgt. Orlando Perez told the Associated Press.
At the time of the accident, the aircraft was seen floating in the water with multiple people inside.
The aircraft had nine people on board at the time, with no fatal injuries, sources told CBS affiliate KGMB.
By the time the Honolulu Emergency Medical Services Department was called to the scene, military officials confirmed that all passengers made it safely to shore.
Gunnery Sergeant Orlando Perez, a spokesperson for MCBH, told Mirror, that it had been landing when it overshot the runway and landed instead in the bay.
The base was located about 10 miles from Hawaii’s capital, Honolulu.
