MINERAL RIDGE, Ohio (WKBN) — Mineral Ridge students and the Mineral Ridge Historical Society celebrated veterans with a twist on Sunday.
They hosted a celebration of veterans and Christmas at the Moss Ancestral Home. The event featured a Christmas tree lighting with real candles.
Wartime carols were sung by Mineral Ridge student Addison Goche. Marci Buchanan with the Historical Society says it’s important to show veterans appreciation.
“We need to celebrate veterans every single day because of what they have gone through and the sacrifices they’ve made, and we are here because of them — being able to live in our country freely,” Buchanan said.
Veterans also received hand-made Christmas ornaments from another student, Tenley McElhaney.
