Minnesota Wild forward Matt Boldy week-to-week with lower-body injury

With the 2024-25 NHL regular season fast approaching, the Minnesota Wild have already faced a setback.

Star forward Matt Boldy has been labelled week-to-week with a lower-body injury, the team announced Monday. The 23-year-old did not participate in Monday’s practice.

However, according to The Athletic‘s Michael Russo, Wild head coach John Hynes said it’s not a major injury, and Boldy should be back by the end of camp ahead of the season opener. Boldy himself didn’t realize something was wrong until he got home on Saturday after camp.

Last season, the Massachusetts native recorded 29 goals and a career-high 69 points in 75 games. In the previous year with the Wild, he netted 31 goals in 81 games.

Selected 12th overall in the 2019 NHL Draft, Boldy is beginning the second season of a seven-year, $49-million contract.
