FromSoftware hasn’t taken a break since it released Elden Ring two years ago, as aside from creating the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, the studio also brought back a supposedly dead franchise from the grave. After more than a decade, the Miyazaki-led company launched Armored Core 6, and although the title focuses more on its single-player aspects, it also received a multiplayer update a few months later.

Unfortunately, that came in two forms that didn’t support cooperative gameplay, as players could only take part in 1v1 or 3v3 PvP modes.

An Elden Ring Modder Brings His Talents to Another FromSoftware Game

Elden Ring isn’t the only FromSoftware game to get the co-op mod treatment.

LukeYui is a name that members of the FromSoftware community may have come across a while back, as before his latest mod, he put a co-op spin on the developer’s magnum opus, Elden Ring. Players were taken by surprise over how seamlessly the modded elements were incorporated into the game, which is something that added yet another layer to turn the title into a fresh experience as fans await the release of the upcoming expansion.

FromSoftware enthusiasts will be pleased to know that the modder is back with yet another co-op mod, but this time, it is for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon.

The latest Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon mod brings an “unofficial online co-operative multiplayer” mode to the game, which lets players complete the title’s missions with the help of their friends. Before this, the FromSoftware vehicular combat game only allowed PvP matches, so LukeYui has significantly revamped “enemy and world synchronisation between clients.”

The purpose behind this mod, according to the modder, is “to make it feel like a traditional souls multiplayer game.”

The Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon Mod Is Still in an Early Alpha Stage

For those players who were looking forward to seamlessly playing Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon with up to five friends, there may be a few bugs waiting for them in the mod, as the modder himself has noted that it “is currently in an early alpha state, so you are very likely to experience bugs.”

LukeYui’s mod also brings a brand new online PvP mode, which makes the player “vulnerable to being invaded by rogue ACs controlled by other players,” regardless of whether one is playing by themselves or with a group.

That adds another exciting element to the FromSoftware game, as other players can basically come out randomly and absolutely devour one’s whole squad, with both parties chasing the goal of killing the other.

The latest mod for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon has a maximum limit of six players, and according to LukeYui, “the amount of rogue ACs that can disturb your mission is equal to the number of co-operative players” in the party.
