The distraught parent said: “As soon as I saw Mark, it literally broke my heart.

“My life has collapsed all around me. I always thought dying of a broken heart was just a saying but I felt a pain that’s indescribable.

“They called it broken heart syndrome. I was taken down to A&E for blood tests and they came back saying I’d had a cardiac arrest.”

We told how Mark, a rapper who performed under the name M2 — had been found unconscious in a taxi in East Kilbride earlier this month.

He spent four days in intensive care but medics were unable to save him.

They have been left baffled by his sudden and unexpected death and a post mortem has failed to reveal a reason for his seizure.

Mum-of-three Lynn, who spent nine days in hospital herself, was able to continue her vigil by Mark’s bedside hooked up to a mobile heart monitor before he passed away due to catastrophic brain damage.

His pancreas, liver and kidneys were removed for organ donation. Further tests to establish his cause of death could take months.

Lynn, of Castlemilk, Glasgow, added: “If I could have taken his place, I would have done it.

“He was a young, talented boy with his life ahead of him.

“It’s a mystery why a fit and healthy lad can just die like this.”

A GoFundMe page to help his family has raised almost £5,000.

Fans of M2 were quick to reveal their pain at his sudden death.

DJ Naeem said: “RIP bro. I only got to know you and your music when we played together at the Scottish rap event at The Garage earlier this year.

“Shocked to hear the news, you had an amazing talent gone way too soon.”

Another said: “Canny believe the news man. Rest in peace brother a real talent to the Scottish scene.”
