SCOTT TWP., Pa. (WKBN) – A New Castle man was killed in a single-car crash Wednesday while being pursued by police.
A report from the Pennsylvania State Police said the crash happened just before 10 p.m. on State Route 956, north of Eastbrook Harlansburg Road.
The report said that 34-year-old Alex Appod was involved in a multi-county high-speed chase when he tried to navigate a curve and hit a bridge abutment on the north side of the road, which forced him onto the south side of the road where he hit another bridge abutment.
Appod was pronounced dead at the scene. His 59-year-old passenger suffered severe injuries and was taken to UPMC Jameson Hospital for treatment.
The report did not say why Appod was being pursued. The chase originated in New Castle, the report stated.
