New Chick-fil-A restaurant opens in CT just off highway

A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will is open on a busy roadway and just off the highway in Connecticut, according to the company.

The new Chick-fil-A® restaurant is in West Haven, and starting today, Thursday, Nov. 14, will be open for drive-thru, Mobile Thru and carry-out from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday, according to Chick-fil-A, Inc.

The company chose Jose Marquez as the independent franchised local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A West Haven, it said..

The new eatery is located at 487 Saw Mill Road, just off Interstate 95. Other nearby businesses and organizations include: a Walmart, Shop Rite, Kohl’s, McDonald’s, 7-Eleven, Starbucks, Chipotle, Texas Roadhouse, Aldi, the West Haven Metro North Train Station, the Veterans Medical Center and Yale University West Campus, University of New Haven, West Haven High School, and Gateway Community College.

At Chick-fil-A West Haven, it is “designed for speed and efficiency, this drive-thru-focused location offers added convenience to serve guests through its drive-thru and a walk-up window for carry-out,” the company said.

The restaurant will have Mobile Thru, “a fully dedicated lane in the drive-thru where guests can pick up orders placed ahead of time on the Chick-fil-A App,” the company said.

There are 14 other Chick-fil-A restaurants in Connecticut.  The West Haven location is expected to provide about 100 full- and part-time jobs.

“In West Haven, Marquez will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 100 full- and part-time Team Members, serving Guests, cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses, and tailoring philanthropic efforts to meet the West Haven community’s needs,” the company said in a statement.

“Marquez was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and raised in North Georgia, where he was introduced to Chick-fil-A’s unique culture of care at a young age. Summers and holidays with family in Connecticut were also a large part of his childhood experience,” the company said. “After many visits to Chick-fil-A throughout his childhood, Marquez knew Chick-fil-A would be a great fit for his first job. At age 17, he began serving as a Team Member at his hometown restaurant before going on to study business administration at the University of North Georgia.”

Now, “after more than 13 years with the company, Marquez is thrilled to return to Connecticut with his wife, Julianna, whom he met while working at Chick-fil-A, and foster close connections within the West Haven community.”

The site, formerly the home of a Denny’s, is just off busy Interstate 95 on a redeveloped retail business corridor that was once dotted with massive apartment buildings. The I-95 exit is not far from New Haven or Orange.

According to a previous listing at Crexi.com for Horvath & Tremblay, the site as having “outstanding visibility, frontage and signalized access and is positioned directly in front” of Interstate 95’s Exit 42 on-off ramp, with nearby national retailers and  not far from US Route 1.

The post also notes traffic counts, saying 26,300 vehicles per day travel on Saw Mill Road and more than 142,100 vehicles pass near it on Interstate 95 and that about 82,000 people live within three miles of the site.
