(WKBN) — Matt Huffman, who has been President of the Ohio Senate for the past four years, will now become Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives.
Huffman was elected speaker by House Republicans during a closed-door meeting Wednesday night. No one ran against him.
Huffman succeeds Jason Stephens who decided not to run again for the speaker’s position. Huffman already has an agenda of what he’d like to do in the House.
“School choice, reform of higher education, professional licensure reform, a whole number of tax reform items, and I see we’ve got a lot of experts in the House already who could help with that,” Huffman said.
Huffman is a Republican from Lima who was elected to the Ohio House in November after being term-limited in the Senate.
