Warner Bros is Hiring for a LEGO Title Based on a “Major IP”
Recently, a brand-new job listing posted by Warner Bros Discovery and Traveller’s Tales’ Games has confirmed that developers are getting ready to bring a fresh LEGO game to the table.
The listing for a Senior Game Programmer who will partner up with Traveller’s Tales Games includes quite a lot of interesting details. Not only will the upcoming title be developed using the Unreal Engine 5, but it’s also going to be based on one of the “major IPs.”
The application first unravels and gives a proper look at Traveller’s Tales’ history and describes the entire job profile. Upon joining the team, the applicant will be assigned to a senior programmer who will guide and mentor, give an in-depth look at the code base, and help get up to speed.
Nothing in the rest of the listing is too revealing; it’s just the usual job you’ll expect from senior game developers before the release of a brand-new project. Before The Skywalker Saga hit the shelves, a senior member of the studio dubbed the title as a “flag bearer” going forward. This means we can expect something similar in the future.
Which “Major IP” is Coming to the Next LEGO Game?
The discovery of job listings has caused a spark in the community, and the speculation has kicked off. Many believe that the next game might be a “full” version of the iconic LEGO Harry Potter series, just like The Skywalker Saga. This IP can bring all seven movies, plus the Fantastic Beasts series, as it’s been a major focus in the franchise lately.
Developers could bring another entry into the popular LEGO Batman series since it’s always been a guaranteed success. They could also dig further into the DC franchise and bring DC superhero girls, who could see big names such as Wonder Woman and Supergirl.
Another popular guess among gamers is Lord of the Rings. It’s one of the biggest IPs out there with a huge fan base, and it’s been seeing quite an upward trajectory recently in terms of popularity after the latest The Rings of Power show and The Hunt for Gollum movie.
Warner Bros can also try cashing out on The Addams Family since it’s been a massive hit, with Jenna Ortega even set to feature in BeetleJuice 2. If none of this works out, there’s always The Matrix franchise, which can never be a disappointment.
