NFL Thursday night: Bills dominate Dolphins again

NFL Thursday night: Bills dominate Dolphins again

About Thursday night’s game against the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa said on Tuesday: “That’s going to be the narrative: That we can’t beat the Bills. And until we do beat them, and we beat them consistently, none of that’s going to change.”

Nothing changed on Thursday night as Buffalo beat Miami 31-10 for its 12th victory in the past 13 games against the Dolphins.

In extending their winning streak over Miami to five games, the Bills intercepted three passes off Tagovailoa before he left because of a concussion with 4:24 remaining in the third quarter.

Tagovailoa has had two other games with three interceptions. The first came in a 56-26 loss to the Bills on Jan. 3, 2021. The other came in a game in which he also sustained a concussion (but continued to play) – a 26-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Dec. 25, 2022.

Buffalo won on Thursday night even though it gained only 247 yards – 104 fewer than Miami.

Nine players from Alabama high schools and colleges got on the field during the Buffalo-Miami game:

· Dolphins guard Lester Cotton (Central-Tuscaloosa, Alabama) played the second half after starter Robert Hunt got hurt in the first half.

· Dolphins wide receiver Grant DuBose (Park Crossing, Miles) had a 13-yard reception that was the first of his NFL career. He was playing in his second game.

· Bills offensive tackle Tylan Grable (Jacksonville State) did not record any stats.

· Dolphins defensive tackle Da’Shawn Hand (Alabama) made one tackle.

· Tyreek Hill (West Alabama) started at wide receiver for the Dolphins. Hill had three receptions for 24 yards and a 12-yard run.

· Bills safety Kareem Jackson (Alabama) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.

· Bills linebacker Nicholas Morrow (Huntsville) did not record any stats.

· Dolphins cornerback Siran Neal (Eufaula, Jacksonville State) did not record any stats.

· Dolphins wide receiver Anthony Schwartz (Auburn) is on injured reserve and not eligible to play.

· Bills wide receiver Tyrell Shavers (Alabama) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.

· Bills defensive end Javon Solomon (Troy) was designated as a game-day inactive. An oblique injury has caused Solomon to miss the first two games of his rookie season.

· Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama) started at quarterback for the Dolphins. Tagovailoa completed 17-of-25 passes for 145 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions and ran twice for 17 yards. Tagovailoa threw a 5-yard TD pass to running back Devon Achane as Miami tied the game at 7-7 with 3:21 left in the first quarter.

· Jaylen Waddle (Alabama) started at wide receiver for the Dolphins. Waddle had four receptions for 41 yards and a 4-yard run.
