Speaking to The Los Angeles Times, Nick Cannon claimed that he was scoring $20M for his job as the host of The Masked Singer, but the comedian didn’t elaborate if it was yearly or per season. If his claims were indeed true, Cannon came close to losing the huge deal following his alleged antisemitic comments on Cannon’s Class podcast. Responding to it, ViacomCBS, which shares a long working bond with the comedian, ended their partnership.

Surprisingly, Fox, which owns The Masked Singer, stuck with the Drumline star, who later apologized for furthering the hate speech on his podcast. Elaborating on their decision to keep Cannon onboard, Fox issued a statement, which read:

He[Cannon] is clear and remorseful that his words were wrong and lacked both understanding and context, and inadvertently promoted hate. This was important for us to observe. Nick has sincerely apologized, and quickly taken steps to educate himself and make amends.

However, things didn’t go very smoothly with Viacom, as the TV host later called out the company, which owns Wild ‘n Out, and demanded full ownership of the IP.

Fortunately for him, once the dust settled down, Viacom and Cannon restored their partnership after he showcased remorse for his controversial remarks, and was brought back as Wild ‘n Out‘s host.

Speaking of the upcoming season of The Masked Singer, Cannon assured fans that it’s going to be the most competitive season yet, stressing anyone could win this season. With costumes for this season including, Buffalo, Leafsheep, Showbird, Woodpecker, and Ship, Cannon commended the cast of this year, adding, “everyone is a great talent”.

When I say that, it’s because of the level of talent. Like, everybody could win! It’s really at that level, where everyone is a great talent. A-level talent.

It remains to be seen if season 12 can live up to Cannon’s comments, and it’s safe to say he isn’t losing on the gig of hosting anytime soon.
