Nine arrests were made and five illegal dirt bikes were seized in Hartford on Saturday as a part of an operation focused on curtailing the illegal use of ATVs and dirt bikes operating in the city, police said.
Police said the nine arrests stemmed from several large groups allegedly riding dirt bikes recklessly on Hartford streets throughout the city on Saturday.
The Hartford Police Department Community Crime Suppression Team, community service officers, officers with the Hartford Police Property Room as well as Connecticut State Police all teamed up in this operation, according to police.
“Several large groups of individuals operating dirt bikes were located flooding the streets and driving recklessly. In total, 9 arrests were made, including an arrest for a stolen firearm and possession of crack-cocaine and fentanyl,” Hartford police Lt. Aaron Boisvert said.
None of those charged were named as of Sunday morning and no further information was provided.
