More than a half-dozen people were charged this week when police found multiple types of drugs during an investigation looking to address “quality of life” issues in Waterbury.
The investigation was carried out Monday and was a joint effort between the Waterbury Police Department’s Gang Task Force and Auto Theft Task Force as well as the Connecticut State Police Violent Crimes Task Force, according to Waterbury Lt. Ryan Bessette.
Bessette said the operation was aimed at addressing issues involving narcotics, trespassing and other quality of life concerns at a residence on Willow Street. According to Google maps, the mixed-use building houses business on the first floor and housing on the upper floors.
Bessette said the investigation led to law enforcement finding drug paraphernalia, crack cocaine and fentanyl as well as $552.
Those who were arrested include:
Jennifer Martinez, 23, of Waterbury who was charged with second-degree criminal trespassing and possession of narcotics with intent to sell. She was also found to have a warrant out for her arrest, according to Bessette. Martinez was held on a $5,000 bond and was scheduled to be arraigned in Waterbury Superior Court on Tuesday.
Ashley Chausse, 32, of Torrington was charged with second-degree criminal trespassing, possession of a control substance (first offense) and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in court next Tuesday.
Michael Thompson, 27, of Waterbury was charged with second-degree criminal trespassing, possession of narcotics with the intent to sell, possession of control substance (first offense) and interfering with an officer. Bessette said he was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit and was remanded into the custody of the Connecticut Department of Correction.
Jarmar Redding, 37, of Waterbury was charged with second-degree criminal trespassing, possession of narcotics with the intent to sell and interfering with an officer. Redding was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit after attempting to flee, according to Bessette. He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
Jesse Spence, 43, of Waterbury was charged with second-degree criminal trespassing. Spence was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to face a judge on Tuesday.
George Miller, 53, of Waterford was charged with second-degree criminal trespassing. He was held on a $25,000 bond and remanded to Connecticut Department of Correction.
Lorenzo Case, 60, of Waterbury was charged with second-degree criminal trespassing. He was released on a promise to appear and is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
Eugene Foote, 45, of Waterbury was charged with second-degree criminal trespassing. He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
