A Courtland man died Monday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash in Lawrence County.
Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said the incident happened at about 5:40 p.m. Monday on Alabama 33 near Lawrence County 286, about four miles southeast of Courtland.
Melvin L. Reedus Jr., 40, was driving a 2017 Infiniti Q50 that left the roadway, struck a mailbox, a utility pole, a gas line and then a tree.
Reedus was not using a seat belt at the time of crash, Bailey said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
